Musical Futures at Fred Longworth High School
- Several years implementing Musical Futures approaches
- Informal learning is used with Year 8 and 9 students and has also been adapted for use with year 10 GCSE students to try to raise motivation and to encourage a better sense of musicianship
- Non formal teaching: Year 7 students experience a model of whole class music making/workshopping which is being developed to support those who have been through the ‘Wider Opportunities’ scheme.
Why Musical Futures?
“We believe that all students should have the opportunity to access a wide range of musical experiences and enjoy success in music. We aim to provide activities within the curriculum to promote engagement and learning.”
