The MF Transition Project uses a piece of music (The Passenger by Iggy Pop) to bridge the transition divide between primary/elementary and secondary/high school. It involves primary teachers creating a whole class arrangement of The Passenger with about-to-transfer Year 6 students, and secondary/high school teachers using the same materials with the now newly-arrived students to create a new arrangement, in a new context.

A library of audio and video resources for The Passenger are available for a wide range of instruments, typically found in primary and secondary classrooms, to enable all teachers and practitioners to create a whole-class performance depending on their expertise and the instruments (and instrumentalists) they have in their classroom.

The project aims to strip away some of the complexities and inconsistencies surrounding transition from primary/elementary school and secondary/high school, and to ensure musical continuity for Year 7 students in their new school environment.
