Musical Futures at Tavistock College
- Aspects of Musical Futures approaches have been incorporated across the curriculum. All lessons focus on student engagement and involvement
- Mainly focus on informal learning but also on non-formal teaching
- Uses an adaptation of In at the Deep End with GCSE students
- In the last two years the department has seen an increase of 300% in the uptake of music at KS4 and KS5
Why Musical Futures?"I couldn’t imagine teaching music in any other way. Student engagement
is at the heart of everything we do in the music department. I
passionately believe that quality music education should be accessible
to every student. Music is such a powerful subject and has changed the
lives of so many of our students. In our position as a Champion school
we now have the power to share our good practice and facilitate this
change for hundreds more students"
